My Detour Whilst Seeking God’s Will

Dear Reader,

Praised be Jesus and Mary!

St. Francis of Assisi had a long detour (read here) before he realized God’s will. And so did I.

After a long discernment process, I chose to study marketing management for college. It took me three and a half years. A few months after graduation, I worked in the insurance industry. After a year and a half, I moved to Singapore. I worked in the same industry, but I had a very difficult time. Fortunately, I found a community, The Emmaus, which helped me to draw strength from God to face the challenges life has to offer. I fell deeper in love with Jesus. I started seeking again for my purpose in life. A few months ago, I acknowledged and said yes to that constant call in my heart. I decided to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a doctor.

Did I regret any my decisions? No.

Did I waste time? I did not.

The detour was necessary.

Becoming a doctor is no longer just a prospective career to me, but a ministry. It is no longer just my childhood dream, but my chosen vocation.

Am I sure that this is what God wants? No. But, the journey is important when seeking God’s will. If this is just another detour, I’m sure God will let me know.

For now, I shall work hard and do my best!

All for Jesus!

Love,
Kristine G. Veneracion
