The Secret of Studying

Dear friend,

Praised be Jesus and Mary!

During our first lecture in Biochemistry with Dr. Laygo, he asked us about the secret of studying. He said,

The secret of studying: concentrate on your goal.

The secret of concentration: heighten your interest.”

Well, that’s very true. Studying can sometimes be exhausting. When we get tired, a lot of distractions might come or, worse, we might lose our interest. The secret of studying is concentration. It is true that there must be a balance between academic and social life (and social media?). However, we must never lose our concentration on our goals. Always remember why you started studying in the first place. Always remember what you want to become in the future. If you find this goal setting difficult, you may want to think short term. Do you want high grades for the upcoming quiz? Do you want to be exempted for the final examination? 🙂

Now, the secret of concentration is to heighten your interest. Do not make studying something boring. Read interesting news and articles. Watch educational movies. Conduct group studies. There are many more ways to make studying interesting.

That’s all for now.

  1. Hi, I can super relate with you. Being a pediatrician was my childhood dream but things change when I chose a different course in college. I took up an AB course and right now, that buried dream is alive. How do you find med school considering the fact that you didn’t have a strong science foundation in college? I’m 23 and I plan to take BS Speech Pathology as my pre-med course(just so i have a fall back). Can you give me tips and advice?
