Praised be Jesus and Mary!
This post is going to be a little nerdy, but those who understand the principles of Action Potential will love this.
Our first homework this school year requires us to explain how negative and positive feedbacks apply to action potential. My classmate, Alger Vidallon, came up with a very unique and interesting way of explaining this. He wrote,
“Praying is like an action potential. Remember, when you pray (stimulus), make sure there isn’t anything in your heart that would block your faith. Begin your prayers by surrendering every thought and attitude to the Lord. Ask him to purify your motives and show if there is any unforgiveness in your life. When you release those things to the Lord, it opens the door (Na+ channel) for Him to move mightily on your behalf. And when you humbly come to Him, and surrender all that you are (Na+ enter, depolarization), He will pour out His favor and blessing on you (positive feedback). So that you can be a greater blessing to others (K+ leave, repolarization) and walk in all of His ways in Jesus’ name (negative feedback).”
I am impressed by the analogy. I never thought of explaining action potential this way. More importantly, the message is beautiful.
