About Kite String

I once posted a Note in Facebook about a reflection. One of my friends, someone I look up to, told me that I might have a charism in writing. He is a wise man and his words were encouraging affirmations to me.

A few months later, Kite String started as my resolution, a commitment, for the Year of Faith in January 2013. Read this old post to know more about how I came up with this idea. This blog is a record of my thoughts and experiences in my journey of finding God’s will.

I write about anything – life, family, friends, work, studies, ministry, hobbies, and whatever thoughts I may have – and I treat this blog as a personal journal. Since I will start medical school less than two months from now, I will most likely be talking a lot about my studies for the next four years. However, despite the randomness, I am sure that you will see a common theme which is my longing to know, to love and to serve God more.

I named my blog Kite String because I believe that I can be happy and confident not because of what I am capable of doing but because I know that whatever happens, I have God, my family, and my friends to come home to. (Visit my very first post, Kite String.)

I apologize in advance for grammatical errors in my blog posts. My English is not very good. If you have comments, suggestions, questions, or anything, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Welcome to Kite String and happy reading!

About Me

My name is Kristine G. Veneracion

I was born in September, 1988 and I will be turning 26 soon. (It’s April 24, 2014 today.)

I am family-oriented. I love and treasure my family very much. My mom is very sweet and caring. My dad is very wise, hardworking, patient, loving and simply the best. (I think my words are showing some hints of favoritism.) My younger siblings, a brother and a sister, are very stubborn and rebellious sometimes, but they are amazingly kind and fun to be with. My favorite aunt, my mom’s sister, lives with us and she’s like a second mother to us. Ah! Almost everyone in my family are in the life insurance industry. We do not draw a line between home and work, so we can even talk about clients or financial planning over dinner and still feel very comfortable. I am saying this because I might be writing about finance once in a while. But, most of the time, we just talk about random topics. I believe that people who are close to each other can be very random with each other, too. Haha! :p

I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, major in Marketing Management in 2008. I worked in the same company as my parents in 2008 to mid-2010. After that, I worked in the same industry in Singapore until 2013. I experienced some hardships over there, but it was necessary to make me stronger. In Singapore, I found a faith community, The Emmaus, who helped and accompanied me through my journey. I became even more serious in discerning about my purpose in life – God’s will.

Finally, I went back home to Philippines after the reawakening of my childhood dream to become a doctor. I had a long detour before this realization, but it was all necessary. I matured a lot while living in Singapore. I started to fall deeper in love with God.

I realized that I have a lot of flaws and weaknesses. I am a sinner. I may be struggling, but I am not giving up. I have decided that I want to live my life as an offering to God.

This coming June, 2014, I will start my first year in medical school. I am very excited! I have some anxieties becuase I did not take a science pre-med in undergrad, but it simply means that I have to work harder than those with science backgrounds. I know that, this time, becoming a doctor is no longer just a childhood dream. This is my chosen life vocation. (You can read about my discernment story here: 1, 2, 3, 4.)

I want to make a difference. I want to be of service for God and country. I shall do my best.

This is my motto:

There is nothing I cannot do in the One who strengthens me.”

– Philippians 4:13

  1. Hi Kay 🙂 I appreciate your blog. I don’t know why, but your introduction here about yourself makes my heart melt (really). Maybe, I am too (not sure of you.. hehehe) is struggling with my life. I also have this desire of “becoming a doctor” someday. Oh, well, I will read all your blogs here if you don’t mind. Hope to be inspired. 🙂 God bless

    • Hi, aLicE!

Thank you very much for your words of affirmation! I am happy that you appreciate my posts. 🙂

I am still struggling with a lot of things – sin, grades, relationships – but struggling is not bad at all. It means that we are fighting for what we believe is good. It also means that we are alive and growing.

I read your self-intro in your gravatar Profile page. I am guessing that we are about the same age. Don’t worry. If you still want to become a doctor, go for it! 🙂 It is never too late. (I was already 25 when I started med school.) I want to share with you this old post: https://veneracionkristine.wordpress.com/2014/02/05/its-never-too-late/

      God bless!
